The dashboard and the editor
The Plate CMS consists of two parts:
- The dashboard
- The editor
The dashboard
The dashboard is where you can find generic information and perform actions. You can think of the dashboard as a layer of Plate where you can arrange general site matters. For example, you will find an overview of all pages created within the site, a (backup) overview of all messages submitted through the site and version control.
The components and functionalities of the dashboard are explained in detail in the Dashboard chapter.
The editor
The editor is the side of Plate that allows you to modify the website itself. With Plate you work directly in the website itself, so you see immediate results of what you add, change or delete. Detailed information about the editor can be found in the chapter about the editor.
Switching between the dashboard and the editor
You can easily switch between the dashboard and the editor environment:
- From the dashboard: click the 'Edit site' button in the menu on the left side of the screen to go to the editor.
- From the editor: click on the 'Dashboard' icon in the menu on the left of the screen (second icon from the bottom).
