Media library
1. The Media Library
The Media Library is where you manage all files that are or can be used on the website. You can access the Media Library via the fourth icon in the editor menu or the third icon in the dashboard menu, but you will also be taken there if you add a section or element to a page that requires a media file (e.g., an image).
2. Adding files to the Media Library
You can add one or more files to the Media Library at the same time. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Media Library icon. The Media Library will open and you will see all the files that have already been uploaded to the Media Library.
2. Click on ‘Upload file’, the orange button at the top right of the editor.
3. A new screen will open with ‘Upload new file’. Here you can drag files from your computer or open the folder on your computer.
4. Once you have uploaded all the files, click ‘Done’. The file has been placed in the Media Library and you can now use it on the website.
3. Changing a file in the Media Library
You can change a file that is stored in the Media Library. To do this, go to the Media Library and locate the file in question. Click on the pencil icon that appears in the upper right corner when you hover your mouse over the file.
A screen will now open where you can add or edit the following file details:
- Title in media library: this is the title that will be displayed with the file in the media library. When you search the media library, these titles will be searched.
- 'title' HTML tag: this is the title that is displayed at the top of the internet browser if you were to open the file separately in your browser.
- ‘alt’ HTML tag: this is a description of the image, which is different from the title. If an image cannot be displayed properly, e.g. due to slow internet, this text will be displayed.
- Replacing an image: If you click on the two arrows at the top left of the image, you can replace the image. The new file will overwrite the previous version in the Media Library. If you also use the image in other places on the website, it will be overwritten there as well.
- Don't forget to click ‘Save’ after you have made the desired changes or additions.
4. Deleting a file from the Media Library
You can also delete a file completely from the Media Library. Please note: if a file is in use somewhere on the website, it will also disappear from there. So only delete files that are not in use.
You can delete a file as follows:
1. Go to the Media Library and locate the file in question.
2. Select the image by clicking on the square in the top left corner. If necessary, you can select multiple images to delete them all at once.
3. A black bar will now appear at the bottom with a trash can icon on the far right. A pop-up will appear asking if you are sure you want to delete the files.
4. Click on ‘Delete’. The files have now been removed from the Media Library.
5. Downloading an image from the Media Library
You can download an image from the Media Library and save it on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Media Library and find the image you want.
2. Select the image by clicking on the square in the top left corner. If necessary, you can select multiple images to download them all at once as a zip file.
3. A black bar with a download icon (down arrow, second icon from the right) will now appear at the bottom.
4. Clicking this icon will download the file immediately. You can find the file in the Downloads folder on your computer.
6. Creating folders in the Media Library
You can organize the files in the Media Library using folders. You can easily create a new folder by clicking on the folder icon at the top right of the Media Library. Give the folder a name and then click on ‘Save’.
There are two ways to fill a folder with files:
1. Upload files directly to the folder: go to the folder and click on + Upload file. Select the file or files you want to add to the folder. The files will be saved directly to the folder.
2. Drag files from the Media Library (the overview) to the relevant folder.
